Getting to Palm Cove

Located in Far North Queensland, Palm Cove is situated 25kms north of Cairns and 30km south of Port Douglas. Palm Cove is surrounded by tourist attractions and has become a very popular holiday location due to its relaxed atmosphere and natural environment.

Taxis are readily available from the airport terminals, or rental cars are available from either the airport or Palm Cove. Shuttle buses also run regularly from the airport to Palm Cove.

Dining in Palm Cove

Palm Cove has an extensive array of dining options from casual open air cafes, family friendly Tavern and Surf Club through to award winning 5 star restaurants. For a more casual relaxed affair have traditional take away fish and chips whilst sitting on the beachfront or for a special night out opt for a romantic candlelit dinner at one of the luxurious 5 star restaurant eating the local fresh seafood and drinking a sparkling champagne. In Palm Cove dining is an experience.

Palm Cove Weather

Palm Cove enjoys the benefits of a tropical climate. The dry season is typically from May to October, with the winter months being the coolest with the temperature averaging around 25 degrees through the day and dropping to 17 degrees at night. The warmer months are November to April with daily temperatures from 30°c to 32°c, and at night the temperature drops to a balmy 24 degrees. With the tropical climate the summer months have the highest rainfall.

Palm Cove Beach

Palm Cove has a beautiful palm lined beach that was voted Australia's cleanest in 2003. It has a unique relaxed feel to it and is ideal for swimming all year round due to the warm seas. The water temperature during summer is a warm 29 degrees and during winter the water temperature drops slightly to 25 degrees. Palm Cove beach is patrolled year round by surf lifesavers and it does have a swimming enclosure that is in operation through the summer months. There is rarely any swell or big waves so it's ideal for small children and inexperienced swimmers.

Banking	All banking facilities are available in the Palm Cove village centre. An ATM is located at the Palm Cove Tavern. Most shops offer EFTPOS facilities, and all restaurants have credit card machines. Currency can be converted at any of the banks within Palm Cove or at Novotel Reception
Barbecues	Located along the beach front available for free use
Bottle Shop	located at Palm Cove Tavern and has a drive-thru service.
Bus Services	A local Sunbus service runs to and from Smithfield Shopping Centre every half hour from outside the Novotel main entrance.
Chemist	The nearest chemist is at Smithfield shopping centre
Clothing Shops	Clothing can be found at some of the shops within the Mall.
Doctor	The nearest medical centre is located at the Clifton Village Mall, a 5-minute drive from Palm Cove (Telephone: 4059 1755). Major medical services including a hospital are located in Cairns city
Grocery Shopping	Limited groceries can be purchased from the resort shop or convenience store in Palm Cove Village. The nearest supermarket is located in Clifton Village Mall approximately 5 minute drive along the Captain Cook Hwy. The nearest major shopping centre is at Smithfield a 10-15 minute drive away
Health & Beauty	Palm Cove is becoming well known for its rejuvenating spas. So go ahead and pamper yourself to a relaxing massage or facial
Internet Café	located in the Post Office
Playground	Great children's playground located on the Palm Cove Beach opposite the village shops (about half way down the main street).
Post Office	Located on the ground level of Palm Cove Shopping Village, Williams Esplanade
Public Toilet	A public toilet is located opposite the main swimming area of the beach
Restaurants & Bars	There are many restaurants, cafes and bars along the esplanade.
